Representatives

Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine

Third and fourth year medical students are assigned to a CORE (Centers for Osteopathic Research and Education) site, all of which are located within the great state of Ohio. 

Each CORE site has an elected representative from its respective class.  The primary role of this representative is to coordinate communication with the Student Government Association and manage funds available at each CORE site.

Assigned Year III and Year IV CORE Site Rotations

and their

Representatives

One student representative for each CORE hospital is elected in the summer prior to Year III by their class peers.  Each CORE hospital representative's responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:     

• Acting as spokesperson and contact for classmates to and for the CORE Administrator.

• Gathering information for the CORE Administrator as needed.

• Organizing the nominations and elections for the Outstanding Clinical Faculty and Student Awards.

• Acting as contact for all social activities sponsored by the hospital or graduating class. 

• Submitting a quarterly written report to the Student Government Association about the current status of his/her respective CORE Hospital.

• Representing the CORE site for various functions (i.e., marketing and recruiting activities).

• Serving as a student representative during CORE hospital visits by the Associate Dean of Predoctoral Education and other administrative staff.

• Participate in CORE Hospital Day on the main campus and be available (or find an alternate student) to answer questions from Year I and II students during the CORE Hospital Assignment Process (CHAP) meetings.

• Organizing major meetings and student-related events.

• Representing CORE site to the Student Government Association on issues regarding student needs and financial requests.

• Taking student photos at CORE site for Memory Books or appointing a representative.

• Distributing information to students from the "Osteopathic Medicine Key Contact" (OMSKEY) call to action letter.

• Informing students of current informational materials regarding Internship Registration Program (Match).

• Serving as a resource person for Year I and II students who are participating in early clinical experiences at CORE hospital.

• Performing other CORE hospital duties as requested.

• If time permits, attend Medical Education meetings at CORE hospital.
