Complementary & Alternative Medicine

Mission:

The purpose of this organization is to educate medical students about Complementary and Alternative medical practices including: herbal medicine, acupuncture, Tai Chi, Homeopathy, Naturopathy, massage, nutrition, music therapy, and folk medicine. CAM Club sets out to share  how these practices are utilized by patients, especially in rural or disadvantage areas, and how we, as future physicians, can integrate these ideas to enhance the treatment of our patients.

Services Provided:

General Purpose:

  • To expose students at Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine to different integrative medical fields.

  • To explore how these medical practices can affect treatment of patients.

  • Bring awareness to the connection between osteopathic medicine and various alternative medical ideologies.

Tentative Schedule for 2012-13:

The organization plans to have quarterly panels of Doctors who practice alternative Medicine as well as lectures on: Nutrition, Homeopathy, Accupressure, Reiki, Yoga, Accupunture, and other CAM fields. We may possibly participate in joint events with the SGA's Wellness Committee. Our events will be done on a voluntary basis, and fund-raising can be explored as a venue should the need arise.
