Complementary & Alternative Medicine
Mission:
The purpose of this organization is
to educate medical students about Complementary and
Alternative medical practices including: herbal medicine,
acupuncture, Tai Chi, Homeopathy, Naturopathy, massage,
nutrition, music therapy, and folk medicine. CAM Club sets
out to share how these practices are utilized by patients,
especially in rural or disadvantage areas, and how we, as
future physicians, can integrate these ideas to enhance the
treatment of our patients.
Services Provided:
General Purpose:

To expose students at Ohio
University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine to
different integrative medical fields.

To explore how these medical
practices can affect treatment of patients.

Bring awareness to the
connection between osteopathic medicine and various
alternative medical ideologies.
Tentative Schedule for 2012-13:
The organization plans to have
quarterly panels of Doctors who practice alternative
Medicine as well as lectures on: Nutrition, Homeopathy,
Accupressure, Reiki, Yoga, Accupunture, and other CAM
fields. We may possibly participate in joint events with the
SGA's Wellness Committee. Our events will be done on a
voluntary basis, and fund-raising can be explored as a venue
should the need arise.
