Jambelí

After 10 days on the road the group heads to Jambelí Island to take a break and relax at the beach. This island, located few miles of the shore of Ecuador is well known for is beautiful beach and exquisite sea food.

Clouds and cool weather did not stop the workshop from enjoying a day on the Pacific Ocean’s Jambeli Island.  From Machala we took a ferry to the island, where there were all the beach activities:  swimming, Frisbee, napping in hammocks, and long, sandy strolls.

Yet the learning never stopped.  One participant was stung by a jellyfish, which began a long debate on the merits and chemical composition of urine to neutralize the sting.  For the advancement of medicine, the participant tried the treatment and found it successful.  Thus, combining science and fun on this day of rest and relaxation.
